From his time at the University of Illinois at Chicago to his Major League debut in Detroit, Curtis made his mark wherever he played. From the biggest stages in New York to his final innings in Miami, Curtis never lost sight of making an impact in his hometown of Chicago.

Recognized for his speed and clutch hitting as a player, he’s most proud of the recognition he received for his commitment to kids and community. He received the Roberto Clemente Award, four Marvin Miller “Man of the Year” awards and the 2021 Heisman Humanitarian of the Year award, just to name a few.

After a 16-year career, Curtis retired from baseball, but remains connected to the sport currently serving as a color commentator for TBS baseball, providing analysis and insights with energy and enthusiasm and his trademark million dollar smile.
